Shane Chalke’ BE Jazz Band
A Harmonious Journey through Time and Sound
In the world of jazz, where improvisation and creativity reign supreme, few musicians have managed to capture the essence of the genre quite like Shane Chalke and his jazz band. With their unique blend of traditional jazz elements and modern influences, Chalke and his band have carved out a niche for themselves in the music industry.
One of the defining aspects of Shane Chalke and the BE Jazz band is their electrifying live performances. Known for their improvisational skills and infectious energy on stage, the band creates an immersive experience for their audience. Whether it’s a small jazz club or a grand concert hall, Chalke and his band have the ability to captivate listeners with their soulful melodies and intricate harmonies.
Shane maintains a full schedule of jazz shows from May through October in the High Country of North Carolina. Shane plays with a jazz trio or quartet, with a silky sound unique to his brand of jazz. He dishes up a large serving of straight ahead jazz, but is also comfortable in the “Cool Jazz” era, and plays jazz from the 60s and 70s as well.
Shane has released two studio albums. “Jazz in Thin Air” (2015) features a collection of jazz standards trumpet, vibes, piano, bass, and drums. “Jazz on the River” (2018) is a refined selection of jazz ballads, with Shane’s trademark muted sound. Both albums are available at all music outlets and streaming services.
Shane is usually joined by Jim Fleri on piano, Ben McPherron on upright bass, Rob Falvo on vibes, and Mike Willis on drums. When Shane occasionally plays in Sarasota, he is joined by Keith Carman on piano and John DeWitt on bass.
Although primarily playing public jazz venues, Shane and his group are available for a variety of
functions and parties.
“Unique Interpretation to Jazz Favorites”
Shane Chalke’s BE jazz has brought a unique interpretation to jazz favorites – Improvisation that maintains the style of the master’s while making old favorites new again. I particularly enjoy seeing young clients in our restaurant coming back to hear Shane Chalke BE Jazz! As one who has lived and listened to Jazz in Chicago, Boston and Atlanta, BE jazz would fit right in any of those venues .
